Orkpedia began as an idea for an open encyclopedia of orchid plants. Today it is home to the photo library and flower numbers from our orchid nursery catalogs, together with practical knowledge about growing orchids and the technology behind them.

• Flower number index: all 918 catalog numbers, so past customers can identify their plants.
• Orchid technology: how orchids are cloned and grown from seed in the laboratory.
• Stories: growing guides, orchid names explained and news from the orchid world.

Photos

Library photos come from our own nursery catalogs. Where a listing showed a parent plant rather than the plant itself, the record says so. Photos from other sources are credited on the page.

How we write and check our articles

Every guide and news article is based on named, reliable sources, such as botanic gardens, orchid societies, show organisers, scientific publishers and reference works, and every article lists its sources at the end. Before publishing, each article is checked fact by fact against those sources, and anything the sources do not support is removed. If you spot a mistake, please tell us and we will correct it.
